License Fees for a New Dog

When you register your dog for the first time, the fee for a dog license is as follows:

All first time license registrations must be done at the shelter, or a home visit by an Animal Control Officer.

If you purchase or adopt a dog after July 1st of a given year, and you are purchasing a dog license for this dog for the first time, there is a reduced dog licensing fee:

To receive the reduced rate for a spayed, neutered, & microchipped pet, you must provide proof of surgery & microchipping at the time you purchase your pet's license or identification. This is an invoice for the surgery/microchipping from your veterinarian. If you are unable to find your receipt, your vet should be able to provide a copy.

Please bring with you breed documentation, current rabies vaccination documentation and proof of spay and neuter and microchipping if applicable.


Provincial Offense Notice

Failure to purchase a dog license or cat identification can result in penalties (increased license fee, a ticket which includes a fine or court action).
